Born and raised a New Yorker, I found myself kicking around the streets of Brooklyn and Queens trying to stay out of trouble. My interest in illustration led me to study at Parsons School of Design, where I honed my design skills earned my degree and eventually entered the work force as a graphic designer, designing hundreds of movie posters for independent film studios. For four years I designed through 3 versions of PhotoShop, and countless cups of coffee.
In 1999, I bid farewell to the subways and street venders of New York to come to the rainiest place I’ve encountered on the planet thus far: Oregon. After 8 years in Portland I’m still not used the winters, and I hate umbrellas.
Someday lounge represents an opportunity for me to have an active role in the Portland’s art community. As a painter who has participated in Portland’s art scene, I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given to exhibit my work. The creative, accessible environment is ideal for encouraging people like myself to pursue one’s inner passion.
Someday will make striking, creative performances accessible to all groups of people. We will bridge the gap between the high-brow and the underground. If not the space, then the virtual space serves as a venue rich in content and media which will reach and enlighten audiences beyond Portland city limits.
Our goal is to be open to all forms of expression and we hope our audience will be equally receptive to work that will sometimes entertain, inspire, or shock. Work that may sometimes be brilliant, or may not quite get where it’s intended to go. But in all cases, VIVA L’ARTE!
