THE SILVER GATE CLUB: A jazz club for the 21st century, featuring hours of uninterrupted improvisation from the underground's most inventive players, each Sunday like church. Featuring a core group of players TBA, with an open invitation to the entire Club—look for your invitation in the mail, improvisors.
About the artist
An ongoing forum for the generations of jazz-inspired musical practitioners who live and work today – all schools and degrees of group improvisation are included (or ignored), leaving room for the music to breathe and develop between master players of disparate backgrounds. The atmosphere of a traditional jazz club guides us toward the Promised Land. This is a place to stay up too late drinking in the pleasure of one another’s company and bearing witness as new sounds are born.
A core group of invited musicians holds down the stage each night, but any musician who holds a Silver Gate Card is free to take the stage at any time and join the fun. And we at Someday Lounge will work hard to get such a card into the hands of every great improvisor in town. Thus will grow a community of players who will support and challenge one another in long-form open-ended improvs, and concertgoers spurring on the inspiration.
