STAGEFRIGHT! —A Benefit Show for City Team Ministries of Portland, starring Kathleen Keogh, Super Unity Group, Josh Pursley, Mag G and Lil'bud, and many more.
I know what you're thinking - you, Someday Lounge, playing host to a team of ministers? But listen: These guys are running a succesful shelter for homeless people; offering hot meals, clean clothes, showers, drug counselling, job training, youth outreach, and connections to medical care and other essential services. They need more money for the Winter. On a broader scale, the City Team Ministries organization contributed mightily to the recent hurricane relief efforts in New Orleans, Mississippi, and Indonesia. So lay off Jesus for a minute (hasn't He suffered enough?) and let's focus on a common solution. A gentleman by the name of Matt Crumbaker has an idea, and it's a good one. If the saving lives gig ever wears thing for him, we've got a place in the old Someday Lounge bullpen for this one: "I'd like to put together 20 or so short performances (5-15 min), mostly musical, with people performing something they are not used to performing on stage- something like a talent show. i am calling the benefit STAGEFRIGHT. the connection i'm attempting to make between the "have's" and the "have nots" is on the level of humility and humbleness. a transgression from anxiety to adrenaline, a celebration." So that's just what we're going to do. More specifics as they develop, friends. In the meantime, maybe you've got some nice blankets or winter coats or canned goods you could drop by your local shelter as a preview of the warm glow you'll hold in your hearts after you do your parts for those pushing shopping carts. Sometimes the rhyme just takes over and you have to swing with it.
