St Vitus Dance Club

PERFORMING AT SOMEDAY

Friday, Dec 15 › 9pm › FREE!

ST. VITUS DANCE CLUB: Seldom does a Friday pass without a dance night at Someday. And by "dance night", we mean both that a selection of groundbreaking DJs, Live PAs, and laptop jockeys will provide a soundtrack for your own shoes; but that a troupe of dancers from the other side of the stage will deliver a short performance for inspirational purposes.

Featuring Michele Wylen, Downcaste, Gejius

STREAMING LIVE NOVEMBER 15th!

About the artist

We at Someday Lounge have scarce little patience for the genrefication that tears at the heart of the underground. When what we all have in common is that we can’t really vibe with themainstream, and that we are hungry for new sounds and experiences.

So why should we stay away from the dance night if we love to dance?
And why should we stay away from the experimental night if we love to experiment?

Therefore, we have conspired to gather our disparate Chocolate and Vanilla freak tribes on a single dance floor. The DJs have taken over the asylum. Those of us who find ecstasis in extremes of movement and abandon to the physical body - for you, we’ve put the word out to an extended family of electronic musicians who transcend the DJ and Live PA realms, crafting original dance tracks for the party that SHOULD be. You get tired of dancing to the same old thing. We understand. That’s why we’re bringing the finest and most groundbreaking dance music to you, once a month, at St. Vitus Dance Club. What style of dance music is it? It’s for styles you’ve never heard, kid. It’s the style of Uniqueness that will never leave you bored.

DJ Try My Cabbage (aka Llewyn Maire of Sardonik Grin, 2Gyrlz, etc.) transgendered cut-up queen of obscure samples and devastating loops; RUDEment (aka George Johnson), who dubs out his own instrumental recordings live into a rich illbient stew; DJ Brokenwindow (aka David Chandler of Solenoid, Knights of Cascadia, Office Products, etc.) mashing and programming in his own high-maintenance, high-yield brand of post-ghettotech party music; recent SOMA Records success story Let’s Go Outside; Domestic Partiers The Cancer Fags; master circuit-bender Billy Neenos, aka Something’s Burning; and so many more. Everybody who’s anybody in the club music game will indeed be down.

And that’s not all. Oh no.

Because each Friday, you the Crowd will have as your special guests one actual troupe of professional dance performers, dropping into the action at odd intervals to perform in divine symbiosis with the Live PAs and whip all wallflowers into a frenzy of communal expression and creative narcissism. Early entrants include Seattle environmental dance troupe Dead Bird Movement, champion hip-hop crew Circle of Fire, and synchronized 80s dance team Fan Kick.

So that’s the show, Bobby-Jo. People seem to be excited about this,
and I hope you are too. We want you as bad as we think you want us.
Shake your mind and your ass will follow. That’s the theory, anyway.

Beat your swords into dance shoes and join us at St. Vitus Dance Club.
