About the artist

Okha was born out of the ashes of Potter's Field, an experimental electronic outfit who were founding members of the 3rd Pyramind collective. This group of misfits and artists put on the Aural Fixation series of shows in Portland between 1996 and 1999, featuring the best of NW and international noise, free jazz, electronic, and improv. When the collective dissolved in 2000 or so, Okha put together the the first PDX Noisefest, which included the first NW appearance of seminal noise artists such as Emil Beaulieau, Stimbox, Xome and Gruntsplatter. Okha remains dedicated to harsh noise the way it was meant to be played... with feedback, pedals and broken analog equipment, and is inspired by antiquated horror novels and devil worship. Today Okha includes members of local metal bands Aldebaran and Splatterhouse, and continues to fuck shit up whenever they play although an Okha show happens only twice a year or so and is a rare and special experience. Okha is proud to be the only local noise act without a myspace page, cuz they don't give a fuck.
