ST. VITUS DANCE CLUB: with DIABOLIK SWITCHES, SPIDER-FRIENDS, RYZE-N-FALL and SEVERE EAR TRAUMA
Los Angeles super-team Spider-Friends plays bizarre live dance fare, with psychotic Portland party crashers Diabolik Switches and Severe Ear Trauma dragging the beat with them into Hell.
At the age of 16 I founded diabolik switches in 1998. The equipment I was using at the time was; BOSS DR 550, BOSS DR.GROOVE 202, Yamaha DJX and the PS420 ('huh huh, he said 420'). The first recordings were made using the method of bouncing tracks with 2 cassette tapes on a CHEAP karaoke machine, and a Tascam portastudio 4Track. I dropped the name 'diabolik switches' in 2000 and tried using different names such as OPTIC, elysium, and vex. I later found that those names were already being used. So in 2003, after I recruited Oskre Ramirez, he really liked the name 'diabolik switches', so we decided to use it for eternity. We exist somewhere between time and space. Oskre and I made a very good noise/break-beat/industrial album called "mentalshitregurgitation" using my BOSS 550 thru a Crate guitar amp's distortion (and without dist.), a Roland JUNO-1('83), manipulating realtime effects on my Peavy P.A. system, and our fucked-up stories of our existence. This all happened in Desert Hot Springs, CA. In Nov. 2004 I moved to the Northwest, leaving Oskre out of the current recordings, not because I don't like his music, but I just had to leave Cali, and he couldn't come with me for certain reasons. We plan on making stuff together in the future. But right now the new live set is myself using software with my JUNO. In Oktober, 2005 I added Michael Stennick on guitar and together we played around the Portland area and had recording sessions until September 2006 when Michael and I decided to part ways due to many disagreements. Now it is just me, Gene with live fill-ins from musicians of other local industrial/elektronik bands.
