About the artist

As practitioners of Egyptian and Moroccan gypsy music, Children of Paradise (featuring Stalking Jane’s Jonathan Howitt on percussion, and veteran folk musicians Kevin Bayliss and John Hawkwood on clarinet and bouzuki respectively) rarely play without a band of tribalistic bellydancers. Perhaps you are familiar with their recent stint on Oregon Art Beat? Or at the wine-spattered East-Meets-West parties thrown by Serpentine Dance? They have, for that matter, made a recent habit of opening for new music projects such as Submarine Fleet and Starvox; and appear from time to time at the appropriately decorated Fez Ballroom. We are thrilled to provide a most non-traditional venue for these traditional artists.
