MARK of the MUZE with DORIEN and ADAM HURST
Our once-removed relationship to First Thursday is a chance to present an evening of music suited equally to those who wish to stay and those just passing through. Lance Grider's Mark of the Muze, celebrated Sumerland vocalist Dorien's solo work, and the long-form cello-and-guitar looping pedal improvisations of the masterful Adam Hurst bring works of crystalline beauty that can be appreciated in five minutes or savored for hours. Come and listen.
Adam Hurst is a solo cellist. He recently released a new CD called Illusions. It is another recording in his original and unique improvised melodic style. The music blends Middle Eastern, Indian, and Gypsy traditions with Western Classical in haunting and seemlessly flowing compositions. He has also composed and recorded numerous film soundtracks in different styles and has appeared as a studio musician on several albums.
Mr. Hurst has been playing cello since the age of eight. He studied cello at Skidmore College and Brown University. Travels to Japan, Cuba, Spain, Greece and other places around the world have also contributed to his musical inspiration.
